You may remember that I photographed Breanna & Andrew's engagement and wedding last year in Belmar, New Jersey. I had such a blast with those two, so I was thrilled when Breanna's sister, Ashley, contacted me because she's engaged! We met up for their engagement session on a chilly, but snow-less, day a few weeks ago and I loved getting to know these two. They're so sweet - they clearly love being together and they even laughed at my jokes! And they were set up by a family me
What is a Lifestyle Session? As I learn and grow as a photographer, I've slowly moved away from traditional, posed family portraits. I'm passionate about capturing authentic moments and emotions for my clients. I call these "lifestyle sessions," and I've slowly been infusing a lifestyle aesthetic into my work as I ask families to interact or play together, rather than simply setting up a specific pose. I knew the Woodley's story was going to be interested when they told me that their daughter's adoption was "domestic, though she is an international child." Hm. What? Dave and Catherine were both open to the idea of adoption, though she was more interested in waiting until they had biological children before taking that leap - at least, that's how she felt until she saw a picture of the most beautiful little girl in China with a heart condition that needed to be adopted. It's hard to beat the silly faces and poses I got throughout this session. And then there's their dog - Hudson. What a sweet boy! He's definitely part of the family and I'm a sucker for pretty much all animals, so we got along great! Thanks, friends, for such a fun session! This little guy
I've known this sweet family for years and they agreed to a family session on my parents' farm - what would be better?! Bob and Anna are such lovely people and they're doing a great job raising some of the tallest kids I know! Their three kids (if you can really call high school and college students "kids") have bright futures, and they put up with all my shenanigans and dumb jokes.
Portrait sessions are definitely not just for families with little kiddos! I've tended to shy away from doing portraits during the winter months when everything outside is dead, but I just love the way these turned out. During the session JoAnne pointed out that she loves these natural, subtle colors that we get in the winter months like greys and blues, and I couldn't agree more! Brother Marius and I went to high school together. If you'd like more information about the Fran
